On-site evaluations are the best way to get your home or business networked. We’ll send a qualified technician to get a clear assessment of your home or business’s physical layout and determine the best way to get you networked.
Networking tips:
-
For businesses we recommend wired networks to reduce downtime and security issues. Secure wireless networks can be setup for smaller offices. Please call us for more information.
-
A wireless network’s range and speed will vary depending on number of users, transmission carriers (like walls and building material) and other factors. Part of the assessment includes a walk-thru of your location to determine the best locations for signal.
Most common questions about networking:
-
Can I share files and/or printers with a network?
Yes you can. With a network, you can share any file or printer on any computer connected to the network.
-
Can I share my Internet connection with a network?
Yes you can. We highly recommend sharing a high-speed Internet connection. Dial-up connections can be shared but will be very slow when used by more than one person at a time.
-
Will a firewall on my network protect me against viruses, worms, and spyware?
No. A firewall will only protect you against worms. An anti-virus program on each computer will help protect you against viruses. Careful Internet surfing and spyware removal programs will help protect you from spyware.
